LEIGH MARTIN MAY is a nationally recognized trial attorney and partner at Butler, Wooten & Fryhofer, LLP.  Leigh has successfully litigated a wide variety of cases in state and federal courts throughout the nation.  She has achieved an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell and has been recognized as a Georgia Super Lawyer (initially as a rising star) every year since 2005.  She is also a frequent speaker at seminars to educate other lawyers on complex legal issues.

After graduating from the public schools in her community, Leigh attended Georgia Tech, where she graduated with a B.S. in Business Management, with honors.  She then worked as a consultant in the electric utility industry before deciding to attend law school at the University of Georgia, where she later graduated magna cum laude.  While in law school, Leigh served as Editor-in-Chief of the Georgia Law Review.  Leigh was also active in the Moot Court Program and received awards for her appellate advocacy.  Leigh was inducted in the Order of Coif for her academic excellence.

Following law school, Leigh clerked for the Honorable Dudley H. Bowen, Jr., United States District Judge for the Southern District of Georgia in Augusta, Georgia. 

Leigh serves in leadership positions in various professional legal organizations.  Currently, Leigh serves as the Treasurer and a Board Member of the Atlanta Bar Association’s Litigation Section and on the State Bar’s Communication Committee.  Leigh is also a member of the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association, Southern Trial Lawyers Association and Georgia Association of Women Lawyers. 

Leigh and her husband live in Atlanta, Georgia, with their son and are active members of their community.  Leigh is a frequent volunteer at her son’s school, and she also serves as the Secretary and Board Member of a non-profit environmental organization.
