A magna cum laude graduate of the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University and recently-admitted attorney, Joseph M. Colwell will be handling a variety of cases out of the Columbus office.
(Columbus, GA) The lawyers and staff of Georgia-based Butler Prather LLP are pleased to welcome newly-admitted Joseph M. Colwell as an Associate Attorney to the firm’s Columbus office. Joseph M. Colwell was recently sworn in by the Honorable Frank J. Jordan and is a member of the bar of the Chattahoochee Circuit and an attorney admitted to practice in the Superior Courts of the State of Georgia.
Mr. Colwell is a Georgia native, born and raised in Rome. He is a cum laude graduate of Mercer University and a 2013 magna cum laude graduate of the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University. Mr. Colwell’s article, ” Reasonable Restrictions on the Franchise: Georgia’s Voter Identification Act of 2006″ was published in the Mercer Law Review in 2012 and he served as Editor-in-Chief of that publication the following year.
An active member of Mercer’s Moot Court teams, Mr. Colwell was a finalist in the Hugh Lawson III Memorial First Year Moot Court Competition and represented the law school in competitions across the country as well as within Georgia. He is a member of the honor society of Phi Kappa Phi and was inducted into the Brainerd Currie Honor Society.
